We Remember Kenny

Ken Swinwood
Kenny Swinwood played for the Tigers from 1981 to 1984, sharing the pitching duties with Julius Marchand from 1981 to 1983 and Keith Webster in 1984. Kenny also managed the team in 1981, when the team won their first and only league championship. He also managed the team again briefly in 1982, when the Tigers manager at the time, Freddie Bunce, abruptly quit.

The above photo appeared on the cover of the Ole Rifter on May 15, 1983, when Kenny was at the peak of his game. With a lifetime average of .315 with the Tigers, he was known more for his pitching. When his fastball got away and sailed over the backstop, players and fans labelled it the "piggy pitch" We will never forget the "Aw! Fuck!" that came with every piggy pitch.

Kenny retired from CN in 1994 and passed away in 1997 at the age of 61. We will always remember Kenny for his love of the game and his love for a few beers at the Rustic after the game. Cheers Kenny, where ever you are, this quart's for you.
